close X Il Magnifico Mandarino (The Miraculous Mandarin) Made up of assembled steel parts. It can contain liquids and it is suitable as flower vase or container for bottles. The fold in the middle shows the mysterious and selfaware expression of the protagonist of the ballet opera by Bela Bartok, The Miraculous Mandarin (Csodalatos Mandarin). This sculpture is the craftsman interpretation of an industrial process, and it is an example of how serious planning applied to the initial feeling may help overcome boundaries, e.g. between industrial production and work of art. A press moulding ten thousand pieces a day, following the same layout indefinitely, has produced a flawed item. This is considered error by the industry, but it may become unique in the view of an artist and designer, thanks to the visualization of the product to be, together with the planning ability which will guide the action towards the final work.
